last gevey firmware is for iphone 4s and there isn't a sim to unlock an iphone 4 with baseband 4.12.01
the only way is to unlock it with imei unlocking service

H3G UK iphone is the most expensive unlock on the planet. I f still in warranty may be easier for you if you ask for replacement in an apple center (say it hangs playing music after 30 minutes or similar) where, normally, the substitution given is already unlocked.

Then, I'm sorry, you have 3 options
a) save 100 quid for the job (some servers do for less but not too much sure about they are reliable or not) and wait about 30 days to have it done
b) Wait for a solution via dev team or similar.
c) Sell your one on e-bay and buy on e-bay an unlocked one

(put your auction ending on friday aka payday and buy yours on saturday noon after 7PM when nobody is on line as in the pub and you get real bargains)
