find and write non encrrypted roms and try again

It's still MIUI 8 but doesn't automatically lock with internet connection. Then, you can add your own/new Mi Account and bind it to the device. It should still work after OTA update. If it's still fine, you can remove the device from Mi Cloud, wipe the device from menu and flash it back with most recent global firmware. Pain in the ***, but worked for this one, it no longer asks for account and doesn't lock again after connecting to WiFi etc.
