The solution is to return the basic footprint 100/100 and soft work

I bought a 6+ that didn't have a home button, tried to restore and now stuck in restore mode with error 53. Does anyone know how apple replaces the home button? I've read on ifixit there's a way to cancel the phone when its verifying, has anyone had any luck with this?

I have a customer I sent to Apple Store because I could not match the $109 LCD Assembly repair deal they have now(Ya, I'm that honest). The customers phone was working fine, just a cracked digitizer; but that even worked. When she got to the Apple Store the "Genius" (Ya right!) told her they had to also do a diagnostic service on her phone. The customer explained it was all working fine and even showed the "Genius". A few hours later the customer returned and they handed her a phone and said it would cost her $300 for the repalcement! WTF! When she said there's no way she's paying for that, they gave her phone back to her stuck in DFU mode. She took it home and tried to restore and kept getting error 53. Obviously Skippy the Apple Genius, replaced the entire assembly with a new home button rather than do the work and remove the original one. Are you telling me even Apple Techs don't know to do this? Wow! And they wonder why I'm so cynical after 22 years in this Industry...

What I forgot to mention in my OP in this thread is they gave her back her old phone with the new screen on it, but in DFU mode. She called me because she read it had something to do with the flex(So she thought) and asked if I would replace it. I explained to her I would have to charge her and don'yt have one in stock anyway; but she should go back to the Apple Store, and they should do it for free. That was this morning and she hasnt gotten back to me yet.

Short Answer is, at least for this instance, they don't.

The customer called me back last night. She told them what I told her to tell them(And to pitch a hissy fit in the store), and all they apologized for is not informing her ahead of time that if her phone cannot be repaired, a replacement would cost her $300. They did swap out her phone for free; though. Unbelievable.

So this must be how they replace a screen cheaper than I can buy the real Foxconn product for wholesale; they cost average the amount of people that bite on this BS and pay the $300.

Imagine any of us small repair shops using this business model? "Ummm Sir, we will replace your screen for lower than anyone else; unless, of course, we F#*%! up and break it, for which we will be glad to sell you a refurbished phone for nearly 3 times what you were originally quoted" ...f%*#ing Apple...I gotta get out of this business.
