first,we need let the Iphone go to Recovery Mode

power off your Iphone,hold the Home Key +Connect USB cable

Then IOS 7 Show you this

and if is IOS8 will Show you this

instal IfunBox2014,, to check the ios version

I was put through recovery to see the version.
but it can not restore to the original.
tiny umbrella and recboot not available for ios 8.

why do you think that Disabled or passcode locked iphone will connect to your computer???

if you get iphone with passcode or disabled, you cant connect and look for info because iphone wont create escrow record to let computer communicate freely with iphone. so this info is 100% useful in first post...

i can tell you how to know if this is 7.1.2 or its lower..

if Slide to Power Off button is CIRCLE form, it is 7.1.2 and NEWER,,
If that button has SQUARE corners, than it is 7.0.6 and older iOS version.

Slide To Turn Off button shows up when you hold Power/Lock button for a few seconds...
