Lenovo P2 (P2a42) IMEI repair - expert advice :) needed

Hi!

I've been trying out many dongles to repair IMEI on this (admittedly old) lenovo phone.

So far, no dongles were successful in repairing the IMEI on Lenovo P2 (p2a42)

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable in this particular subforum can point me to a product that reliably works?

In short (as possible)

- if phone is alive, unlock bootloader and install TWRP recovery
- Write Marsmallow ROM (ie: S062 version) (twrp firmware)
- check if baseband is okay under settings/about phone
- enable diag port via rooting (unlock bootloader, twrp, superSU etc.)
- write QCN file from THIS post
- reboot phone, imei should be there
- fix original imei via box or free tools (via diag port, or simply edit qcn file)
- if problems with 4G/LTE, erase modemst1, modemst2, rewrite qcn, fix imei.

p.s. Whole Process is a bit complicated, but you can obtain all info on google, 4PDA forum and lenovo-forums .ru

Using this QCN backup you can repair your IMEI.
Too many guides for how to restore QCN files.
Diag code for your phone is ####8899#

Code:
P2a42_QCN
br, mshib0

Hm, for some reason the QCN trick isn't working for me (I'm sure I did unlock bootloader, I did flash to Marshmallow ROM linked, I did make sure modem matches the marshmallow release)

There's a video that seems to suggest something called "EFS method" should be used

Okay, let me tell you again...

You dont need ANY dongle/box to repair imei on this device.

- after flashing the device, power it on
- CHECK IF THERE IS BASEBAND info present under settings/about device (should be displayed)
- imei should be empty (*#06#)
- Write QCN via QPST/Software Download module
- reboot device, check imei again, should be like: 358957060996039

Crucial thing is, that BASEBAND must appear.

Hi Alex!

I suspect the subtle problem is that I want to CHANGE the imei on a phone with intact IMEI, and QCN restore does not over-write the old imei (so after reboot, the old imei returns)

Any pointers as to how to go about changing IMEI in case imei is initially intact (not empty)
?

P.S.:
currently trying out UMT dongle, no cigar so far...

Oh, and I did try wiping modemst1, modemst2, then restoring the qcn. Still no cigar.
