Connect phone in fastboot mode, than manually change driver from "adb interface" the google driver to the htc driver. It should apperar as "my htc".

There is no "download mode" in htc, only bootloader mode (hboot), recovery (with adb sideload), fastboot, and oem fastboot.

Unfortunately you are not correct. There IS a download mode on all modern phones, and furthermore bootloader mode is depricated and used to boot phone only.

M9's are a bit different than the other HTC's. I have recently had similar problem. There is no HBOOT but ABOOT in this phone. All fastboot commands should work properly in download mode. Switch the phone off. Press and hold Volume down button; while doing so press once Power key in order to power on your device – don’t release the Volume Down key though. Phone should boot into Download Mode. Or you can reboot to D mode using ADB command: adb reboot download.

thanx, I didn't knew that, I never had a M9 for servicing till now. But before M9 "adb reboot download" just rebooted the phone because there was no download mode to boot too, I had to use adb reboot bootloader... but thanx , good to know...
