Now for the s-off is mandatory for the firmware zip unsigned. For this file you need to flash it in download mode with the fastboot command with a computer. In the firmware zip you will find many files in img. Like the recovery, the boot, the bootloader ( Hboot/Aboot) the radio, etc, etc..... you can remove some files like the ones than will wipe the device. I use this method since my first device of HTC the htc desire g7. This is my firmware zip unsigned of my htc 10: I hope you will can more understand what i want to say and why the s-off is important to me! Last edited by Max1288; 08-23-2018 at 04:38. | |

What's the point? Does it bring you any additions or new features? How do you update system then? |

This lets you update the radios, and other firmware without flashing a whole RUU. It also allows you to remove the boot-signed.img, and recovery.img from the firmware, or even replace the recovery.img with TWRP. There may be other things you want to remove such as splash0.nb0, etc. This way you can update firmware parts, without having to reflash your custom ROM. You also don't have to make a TWRP backup, backup all of your sdcard to your PC, flash RUU, restore TWRP backup, and restore sdcard when finished just to get the lastest firmware These are some very valid points to why it is helpful, and it would be nice if the xtc2clip could at least temporarily enable S-OFF mode. I know it's not permanent, but that doesn't mean it's not useful. |
