I have successfully removed my ZenFone Go Black (Z00VD), hope to help you
Be sure to have 50% battery or more
Download Recovery.img and Firmware of the same version
(Example: You want to install 12.1.0.29 [UL-ZC500TG_ASUS_Z00VD-WW-12.1.0.29-user.zip] Version Of Firmware Then You Should Download 12.1.0.29 recovery.img
or upzip recovery.img from file UL-ZC500TG_ASUS_Z00VD-WW-12.1.0.29-user.zip . The Version Of Recovery Image And Frimware Must Be Same!)
- Copy recovery image [recovery.img] and the firmware [UL-ZC500TG-XX-X.XX.XX.XX-user.zip] file to Adb folder > C:\adb\
- After you enter the fastboot/Droid Boot, on the adb cmd type: fastboot flash recovery <Recovery Image File Name.img>
(Example: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
- After the recovery flash complete go to "recovery menu" and select on it, after you enter recovery navigate and select "update from adb"
- And on adb cmd type: adb sideload <Firmware File.zip>
- Wait the for the process to complete the phone (~25min)
- You can now select "wipe data/factory reset" (~5min)
- when is finish select "wipe cache partition" (~1min)
and for the end select "reboot system now"
- The Boot process Will be Little Longer After This Process PLease Be Patient (~5min).

How to Enter "Recovery Mode"
Hold Power button + Volume up
You use the Volume Up key to select [Recovery Mode], press the Volume Down to agree.
At this point the machine will appear Android exclamation mark on their backs.
You hold down the Power finished press the Volume Up, it will appear Recovery mode
