Problem flashing A55 -> C55 - GSM-Forum

Hi people,

I've been reading past threads but still can't find the answer. I want to convert my A55 to a C55 and unlock it as well. I tried both Freia 9/10 and Winswup to flash C55 firmware v18 to the phone, after flashing I try to power on the phone but it makes two 'click' noises.

I try to unlock it, but it says 'update not accepted'. I've tried various settings but still can't get the phone to power on with the C55 firmware.

Then.. I flashed it back to the original A55 firmware, and unlocked it successfully using Freia 10. Soo.. what am I doing wrong? I would like to convert it to a C55 and I'm using 98SE with USB cable.

If Your problem is unlocking and You don't need unlock A55, try "1" or "2":
1. Flash phone with bootcore (not fullflash!) from C55, then use latest winswup for C55 v.24 - c55_240101w.exe for flashing C55 firmware into phone (set first "precheck") - no unlock needed at all!
2. Or, after flashing C55 fubu, just restore Your original EEPROM (A55) from backup - no unlock needed too.
If phone work well after all, but You found, that some menu items are missing, use SiemensQuickEepromFeatures 3.3 for writing "right" 71 EEPROM block.

Select boot type-->A55 new phones in freia

( 1 ) Read firmware a55 >> Read Flash
( 2 ) Read eeprom1 a55 >> Read Flash
( 3 ) Read bootcore a55 >> Read Flash
( 4 ) Backup battery a55 >> Miscellaneous > Backup Battery parameters from phone
( 5 ) Write firmware from c55 (.bin) >> Write Flash
( 6 ) Write eeprom1 from A55 (.bin) >> Write Flash
( 7 ) >> Miscellaneous > Restore battery parameters from phone
( 8 ) Write bootcore original a55 >> Write flash
( 9 ) >> Unlocking > direct unlock no mp is saved > Use Original IMEI
(10) Update firmware with official siemens update (optional)

Use java enabler Early_Bird_by_Skylord_ver1.3 to enable java

I managed to flash the phone properly this time, but can't use the java enabler software. It just stays on 'scanning'.

With the SiemensQuickEepromFeatures software, which options do I need ticked/unticked.
