Hi All,
I am pretty new to bluetooth, but have been monitoring this forum to get some tips. So far it has been very useful .Basically what I would like to do is to use my mobile as a 'handset' for VoIP calls. In my mind this means it effectively becoming the speakers and mic to my broadbanded notebook. Note that I do not have a BT headset, but I suppose that I want to use my T610 for this purpose. My setup is as follows: - XP Pro (SP1) Notebook Vaio BT Dongle (CSR firmware 355 I think) Widcomm 1.4.2.10 (thanks to this forum )SE T610 The widcomm stack installed without issue, recognises my dongle and appears to be working. Pairing of devices works in both directions without issue. However when I initiate the audio gateway on the notebook, a connection is made to the phone, which then displays 'after the tone say the voice command' > 'no match' > BT connection dropped. I'm not sure if this is the right way round but wanted to try it anyway. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or similar and can suggest a few tips/tests to try out mainly for VoIP but eventually more advanced notebook remote control. Thanks in advance. |

I could be wrong but i dont think you can do this. It would mean that your phone would have to support the headset profile. I think the audio gateway is purely for sending audio to another bluetooth device (although I have to admit, ive not really played with the audio gateway stuff - or the headset stuff much).

Hi,
Just looking down the list of supported profiles on the SE T610, it shows the headset profile (not the audio gateway). |

Do you think it's worthwhile posting my request to the geekzone forum? They seem to have played around with these profiles and I noticed you are a member there.

ah well... as I said, I could easily be wrong. Posting the question on geekzone is probably a good idea.

Cool... I've posted to geekzone. If I hear anything useful (either way), I'll post back here as well.

Mobile broadband will not be fast enough to process the data exchange for Voip. You will suffer continual broken links and time lag. Also you will very quickly exceed your cap because of the amount of data exchanged.
You might just as well make a mobile phone call because it will still cost you the same without the aggro. The idea of Voip was for fixed line or cable broadband to make free calls!voip softphone |
