Widcomm Bluetooth with limited user account
Has anybody had any success in getting the Widcomm Bluetooth software to work for any user not logged in as a member of the Administrators group?
With both 1.3.7 and 1.4.2 it works as a limited user if you do things such as right click on a file and choose "Send to Bluetooth" or right click on the tray icon and use the "Quick Connect" or even "Advanced Configuration" options. However, attempting to open the My Bluetooth Places folder just results in the mouse briefly changing to an hourglass icon and then that's it. I've checked the permissions on what seem like relevant folders, files and registry entries but no luck there. Using a user that's a member of the Power Users group doesn't work either. I've tried installing the software as the user I want to normally log in as having given them administrator rights and then revoked them after configuring the software but that doesn't work. I'd rather not have to compromise my security by always having to run as a user with administrator privileges as that's just daft. Anyone have any other suggestions? |
