Problems installing TDK BT software on XP

I have a TDK USB BT adaptor. The software appears to install just fine. When I plug in the adaptor for the first time, the adaptor is found, recogneised and the drivers appear to be installed.

When I click on My Bluetooth Places however, the window is always empty, no icons. When the configuration box comes up, my computer name is not automatically placed in the box, I have to type it in. Next, my computer lists no services (I have a palm VX and Blue5 so Sync'ing should be listed) also, I cannot discover my PC with my HBM30 headset or the palm). The settings I put in the config program just do not "stick" as every time I click on My Bluetooth Places the configuration starts all over again.

I can discover my PalmVX and headset from the PC but again the settings do not stay.

Any ideas what could be wrong here? The software installs and works perfectly on my Thinkpad laptop so why not XP?
