I had to use the first set of bytes Phantasm4489 says to search for in the 1.4.2.10 Hack ( 83 C4 08 85 F6 0F 85 EF 00 00 00 ) with the second string bluetoothmaster posted ( 8B F0 83 C4 0C 3B F5 75 0E 3B FD 75 0A ) to get them to work.

Yep tested it on both my dongles and seems to be working nicely.
Funny how the bytes seem to change from version to version. It doesnt seem that the actual code is changing, more like each of the manufacturers are using different compilers to build the btw stack. This one doesnt ask for a license code unlike the msi 1.4.2.10 sp14 PIM syncing still doesnt handle recurring meetings with my t610 :-( guess i'll have to stick with xtndconnect for now. |

I actually own two TDK devices (both a PC card and a USB dongle) but in the case I'd like to get the v1.4.2.18 TDK Widcomm stack working with a MS dongle to use the MS keyboard and mouse (but still have access to other BT profiles!)
Can someone post specifically what files/bytes need to be changed and the new values? I'm reasonably technical so it doesn't need to be that detailed, but I'm a bit confused by the mixture of posts concerning v1.4.2.10 vs. 1.4.2.18. Thanks in advance all, Tom |

The byte sequences that seem to work for all of the most recent revisions to the widcomm drivers are:
search for 83C40885F60f85ef000000 and replace 0f85ef000000 in the sequence with 909090909090 search for 8BF083C40C3BF5750E3BFD750A and replace 750e with 9090 and 750a with 9090 you need to do this on the following 3 files: BTTray.exe (typically in c:\program files\widcomm) BTStackServer.exe (lives in the same directory as BTTray.exe) WBTAPI.DLL (lives in c:\windows\system32 or c:\winnt\system32) |

Thanks Phantasm-
Do you complete this AFTER installing the drivers, but before rebooting or inserting your bluetooth device?? Also any experience with installing over the MS stack? Is there something that needs to be removed, or will this just take the place of the MS stack? Thanks again, Tom |

i would recommend doing this mid install at the point where the warning is given about the driver signing being disabled (that is assuming you have driver signing enabled).
This is the ideal point as all the files are installed at this point but none of them are in use. If you cannot do it at this point, wait until later - but you will run into problems with the files being in use (although you can rename them, load into hex editor, make changes and save as the original filename if this happens). You can do this without uninstalling the MS bt drivers (as I have) but you will have to do some extra steps after installing the widcomm stack. The steps are listed below and are the steps require for windows xp, the steps might be slightly different for other versions of windows. 1) Goto the device manager and find the microsoft wireless tranceiver for bluetooth 2) right click and choose update driver 3) choose 'install from list or a specific location' 4) choose 'dont search, i will choose the driver to install' 4) choose 'microsoft bluetooth device' This should get your ms dongle working nicely with the widcomm stack. |

Thanks Phantasm - that worked perfectly and the IBM v1.4.2.18 drivers are working fine with the MS dongle/mouse/keyboard.
Next thing - part of the point in this exercise is that I wanted to share my modem on the desktop (with configuration above) via bluetooth with a laptop (running TDK PC Card and TDK stack v1.4.2.18 as well). I've configured the desktop Bluetooth DUN to use the modem I've referred to. On the laptop I've established a new DUN connection with my office signon details and set it to use the Bluetooth modem. All fine. When I dial the connection on the laptop, I can see it connect to the DUN service on the desktop. I get two popup notifications on the desktop saying the connection was successful, but then on the laptop a message saying there was a hardware failure in the modem. Any thoughts? Is there any reason that the DUN service can't be connected while the mouse/keyboard are in use? I'll post this as a separate topic in case anyone else has any thoughts. Thanks once again, Tom |

Does it work if you wait until the keyboard and mouse have gone to sleep (you can see when a bt connection is active because the tray icon is green).
I know that I cannot connect to my pc from my phone when the keyboard and mouse are active, I have to connect to my phone from the pc. The pc doesnt seem to like incoming connections from the phone while the keyboard and mouse are active. |

Hi, tried tonight with all other BT devices disconnected - no such luck. The result is exactly the same - hardware failure in device on the laptop side. Could this be due to the hacking of the stack on the desktop side? Or is it worth trying a firmware upgrade on the MS dongle?
If I attempt this using the firmware that came with TDK v1.4.2.18 will it work? and is there any danger??? also which files would I need to move across? Thanks, Tom |

Doh - bad idea... you get the MS device removed sound, and then the firmware upgrade hangs. Suspect my MS dongle is now dead. The only good news is that I had another one as I bought a separate mouse at one point.
If anyone knows how to firmware upgrade or flash a MS dongle, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks, Tom |

ANYCOM 1.4.2.10 RELEASED!!!
Hi dudes!
Anycom finally released there 1.4.2.10 Widcomm Software at least on the european websites (ger|eng). www.anycom.com Great, now the king becomes king again. I almost sold my Anycom because of the old software version. Cool! A technican told me, that they are still working on the HID bug. Right now even with 1.4.2.10 you can only use one HId Bluetooth device at a time. Greetings magnum80 EDIT: I just tried downloading. You have to fill a form first with name, mail and device number. You get an email after they checked your data. So I am waiting now for their response.

1.4.2.18 appears to have resolved that issue - I'm running both my MS mouse and keyboard simultaneously with no issues and no noticeable lag. I'd try the IBM version as it appears to have most devices listed in the .inf file.
Good luck, Tom |
