Widcomm 5.1.0.1100 ok but cannot connect to stereo headphones...

Heya all,

I installed the WIDCOMM 5.1.0.1100 on my Vaio TR5MP and on my nx7010 (both use CSR chipset so I stuck with this version). I modded the inf files with the relevant PID & co, remmed the ms bt inf file, removed the original BT drivers and all installed fine on both laptops (I used the license generator tho not the patcher). BT works fine, connects to my Nokia N70 but the handsfree function doesn't work (it says connected, tries to connect when placing a call but then falls back to the phone). Anyhow, OBEX file transfer works so everything looks ok.
Furthermore, the reason I upgraded was because I bought a zoom model 4360 stereo A2DP BT receiver to hook up my laptops with my home stereo. The device is recognised fine, they pair but it won't ultimately connect. It just returns an "error" while attempting to. It does this with both laptops so it isn't just a specific error. When I select as audio device the BT audio in the audio devices control panel, I get notifications that a device is trying to connect whenever a sound is generated and when I follow the wizard I get that the device "BT Receiver" (my zoom BT device) does not support "<weird garbled service name with 12 characters>" and returns to the wizard.

I tried to connect the receiver with and without encryption to see if it made a difference, but nada.

Any ideas? The Zoom BT stereo receiver is supposedly A2DP compliant. Anyone tried this device? Anyone see this error?

Thanks for any pointers!

This is s common problem with the 5.1.0.1100 Widcomm driver and CSR chips, try the older 4.x series instead, they work like a charm for me.

I'd like to try the 5.0.1.2703 and 4.x drivers - do you have any link where I can find them?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Just an update. I found the 5.0.1.2703 version by downloading the Logitech Setpoint 3.15 software. I found a link here:

http://www.logitech.com/pub/controld...C_GM_32bit.zip

The password to the zipfile is "btimprove".

Extract the zipfile, then extract the install exe using winzip. You will find the widcomm install package under 1-setpoint\Widcomm. Launch the setup from there (or copy the widcomm directory and get rid of the rest).

To my surprise I found that the inf file already contained the VID&PID for my hp nx7010 BT module so I didn't need to modify the file and add it. You might want to check if it has yours already.

Everything installed fine, and I used the v1.8 license generator to authorize it (it's linked in this forum in the 5.1.0.110 package).

HOWEVER, I still can't get it to link to my ZOOM Stereo BT receiver. It sees it, pairs but just does not link .

I've read that people have had success using this version so I suppose I'm out of luck. I might give the 4.x version a try, if I find it.

Thanks for any additional feedback on the matter.

Ok folks, version 4.0.1.2800 did it. For some reason the first time I tried it didn't connect, but it worked as headset with my N70. So I uninstalled the whole thing, rebooted and tried again, and this time it linked!

As a side note, I noticed that if I copy stuff using my wireless network to my laptop while streaming A2DP to my stereo BT receiver, the BT stream dies for a few seconds. The 802.11g RF signal must be messing with the BT stream (as they are both in the same freq range). If I don't use the wireless LAN connection everything streams fine without lags or blanks.

So if you are having trouble with hooking up or having audio dropouts, try disabling your wireless connection.

Cheers!

Good it works for you. Using wireless adapter you can add the parameter BTCoexist so the sharing with Bluetooth device is enabled. In windows Registry find your Wireless Net Card, add under Ndi new parameter

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet\Control\Class \{Your wireless net card class}\00XX\Ndi\Params\BTCoexist]
"default"="1"
"ParamDesc"="BlueToothCollaboration"
"type"="enum"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet\Control\Class \{Your wireless net card class}\00XX\Ndi\Params\BTCoexist\enum]
"0"="Disable"
"1"="Enable"

Thanks gsmdb for the tip - but I didn't have any wirless/bt coexistance problems. I added the keys in the registry anyhow under my Intel wireless 2200BG adapter but nothing changed. I am always able to use both wireless and BT at the same time, just that if I transfer a file over wireless connection (just 1MB will do it) the BT audio drops out, and then comes back again once the copy has finished just as before.

I now have under the advanced properties of my Intel Wireless card the "BlueToothCollaboration" option which is enabled by default as per settings - so the registry keys are ok.

I tried this on both my laptops (hp nx7010 and Sony Vaio TR5MP) and they behave identically. I wonder if selecting another Wireless frequency channel may resolve this issue, but I doubt it.

BTW I just found out that the Intel series wireless adapters use a different setting called "BTCoexistence" which is found directly under the <your card's ID>/00xx. I already had a value of 0x7.
