anybody got A2DP on hp BT integrated module ?

hi all,

i have HP dv5140us that i want to use with my bt stereo (motorolla S9). it has VID_03F0&PID_171D. so far i have tried 4 different versions of widcomm s/w (4.0.1.26xx, 4.0.1.2800, 5.1.0.1100 & 5.1.0.2900) with no good result. the least freaking crippled sound i can get over 5.1.0.2900 (in here listed as v. 5.1.0.3100) with audio interupted every 2 sec...:-(.

i saw a tutorial in italian http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/archiv...t-1022212.html said we can set flow control with v. 5.1.0.1100 using speed switcher utility from http://btfix.thcgirls.com/BTSpeedSwitcher.zip ....unfortunately, this prog runs on winCE. any idea how to run it on win 32 ?

so....

1. has anybody got smooth stereo sound with this hp creepy integrated module ? maybe with same vid & pid. if so, what widcomm's version you use ?
2. is there any tricks other than using widcomm ?
3. will toshiba btstack 4 windows work with broadcomm ? most people wrote, their a2dp functions really well.

help me please...........

thx,

Your VID/PID shows, that this is the new, Broadcom-based module. Compatibility with A2DP depends on firmware revision and Widcomm stack version you use - use the latest available from HP and apply any firmware updates, if available. Without any deeper fighting (with risk of destroying the module) you cannot do much - anyway A2Dp should at least work smoothly for a moment. For me it always worked fine (nc6000 with BTM200 BT 1.2 module, then changed to generic BCM904250 module, and finally to Compal branded BCM904250 module), but with Plantronics 590 always breaks connection after some time (20-30 minutes) and requires reconnection. Less problems with original HP headset, but audio quality is much lower.
for 3: yes, all 4 and higher versions should work - just experiment remembering about complete deinstallation of previous stack before installing the new one.

thx. i just wanna be safe in modding this feature. how did you change your BT module to right generic model ? and what about the compal branded you acquired ? tell me the details please. i was thinking, HP integrated module is a "branding call sign" like sony vaio bluetooth module (http://www.siliconpopculture.com/for...6a48bab01b70b2) that we can unbrand it to it's original model, in order to do an upgrade.

will try to apply toshiba bt s/w. and see how it will go.

Not sure what you mean by "how did I change" the module. I just unscrewed the old one, disconnected, connected the new one and that's all. In my nc6000 BT module is under a small panel on side of the laptop.
All to later modules are Broadcom BCM902045NMD modules, just sold as Compal module (you have one example here: http://www.pacificgeek.com/product.a...363&C=231&S=-1 but in Poland I acquired one for about $15, brand new) and instead of patching I used Widcomm stack provided by Compal itself (on the website).
So far I have 2.1.211.315 firmware and don't feel like upgrading firmware anytime soon. Works quite fine with Widcomm 5.1.0.2800.

Unhappy

oh... i thought your modification method just been done with software only...i was wrong. i think, using an external dongle will be less hassle for me. i am not so techy to prey under the laptop :-). anyway guys, toshiba BT for windows didn't work well with this broadcomm bc 2045. steraming still cuts out, even on toshiba BT v 5.10 with proper patch as other functions : OBEX work well with nokia, headset mode on S9 runs smoothly. and unfortunately i don't have other headset than mot S9 to try on.

what else can i try ?

@jakubd:

I too have the same HP module on my tablet (VID:03F0 / PID:171D). I was wondering if it's also a BCM902045NMD based module, thus compatible with Anycom firmware, or is a different chip and the Anycom firmware would render it useless...

Well, well, well...

Found my answer, and is "NOPE".

Flashed with Anycom firmware, MAC goes FF:FF:FF:FF... btwinitialupdate says something about no being able to verify the dongle's security, 5.1.0.3600 (even patched) says it can't verify the license, other BT devices can see it but then fail to connect, and finally... switched off from the "radio off" slider and never came back to life again.

I've bricked the dongle lol... Oh well, I still can source another two so plenty of opportunities left :P

You can also get the file from HP's website not listed for all laptops but works for your VID and PID works for these USB\VID_03F0&PID_171D. The driver is the Broadcom 5.1.0.3200. The file name to search for is sp34842.exe.

If you want the Vista driver versio 6.0.1.5400 Rev A. the file name is sp36868.exe.

Saves us from updating the drivers. A2DP on the 3200 driver works fine on my nx6325 good sound etc.

Good luck

Joey
