ok, i'm gonna help you start at least. as Stikmann said, no need go to college, unless you want to be a computer scientist.

1st, You'll need Dedication, Time and Money

2nd, start here Arduino Tutorial - Learn electronics and microcontrollers using Arduino!

3rd, Learn a high-level language like object-pascal, or c++ or python
