Thing are stating to get confused here:
What memory can have such an smart card to keep few phone user data backups 1-2 Mb? What about Symbian phones with huge user data ?
No chance.
And nothe that Smart card has also limited valability.
Smartcard will not do any things except security function to calc some sec data.
