Dear Sir,

First to confirm everything is alright. Give us a picture with the writing on the chip where we can clearly read the markings ( just to make sure its the SPI chip ),

Second make sure pin 1 of soic8 clam is aligned with the dot on the chip. and the pins are properly gripping the chip. From your picture, in this case the pin1 seems to be alright, we cannot know about the other 7 contacts. We included this step for our other customers who might read this reply,

3rd: If 1 and 2 are ok, but chip still refuse to comunicate. Make sure Mac is powered off, or in sleep mode. and try again 2. If fail.. then we go the more techy way: un-solder the chip, put clam on it, read content, unlock all locks, click write spi, then solder it back to board.

And as an 2.5 step, you can use any SPI chip you have around, even if its not from a mac to check everything is fine, HDBOX will still give you the JEDEC id of the chip even HDBOX does not know that chip.

best Regards!
