Our 2 big lovely helper already give you the right suggestion

1, Show us how you connect and how did you operate.
2, Give us the screenshot how the management showed.

Thanks

Hello strato55,
Looking at the picture of the board you provided, i think the right connector is number 2, the blue one.

Now, using only the connector 2 + flex + spi adapter ( Not connected to HDBOX yet), connect it your mac while mac is sleeping / off ( NO fan spinning) then see if the red light on the SPI adapter comes on.
If it does not comes one, rotate it 180 and try again. Now it should light up. Now you know the position and connector required to connect it.

After this, connect SPI adapter to HDBOX, and from HDBOX manager,
1) detect SPI - Confirm it is a good ID,
2) Read SPI Chip,
3) (optional) Save a back file,
4) Do all the unlocks you need,
5) Click Write SPI Chip, All should be done now.

After this remove SPI Chip, and also is recommended to an NVRAM reset ( Command-Option-P-R )

Best Regards,
HDBOX Support Team

That picture is from one of our testing A1466 macs, and is for reference. To be 100% i will need you to find the board number of the logic board, write it here, and if I can find a schematic for that board, i can confirm you the connector and direction.
