Suddenly HDB not detecting anymore macbooks?

Hello
Can one of the developers or suppporters of HDB tell me what has happened to my HDB that is not detecting any single laptop nowadays? It was working smoothly, but now NOT anymore. Last times I received 2 macbooks that I couldn't detect at all :confused::confused::confused:

I tested the 8Pin flat cable it is giving signal on both ends, and the LED lights when connected to laptop light up as normally RED light, but the laptop is not detected at all.
I used to have problems with detecting the laptops, but after some tries they were detected, but nowadays it is not detecting a single laptop even if I try 2 days continuously

I suspect that the connectors 2 or 3 are damaged, but anyway why the RED led is powered if it was faulty?

I need personal assistance regarding this matter.

Also I wanted to buy the ISP kit adapter but it is too expensive (also I am not safe that it is the problem even if I buy it) https://hdb-team.com/product/hdbox-isp-spi-adaptor/

Thanks

Hello,

To help you with this matter and check why cannot detect macs, there are a couple issues we can try, but first and most important:

1) I need to know the model / EMC of the computer that give you a hard time detecting and we can check the pinout of the debug port and confirm the adapter number and orientation;

2) Just to rule out a potential issue: All of our adaptors are hard to damage I'm sure that even if adaptor 2(blue) and adaptor3(yellow) look similar, you know they are not interchangeable as they they have different pinout;

3) Only component that could have issues: Is the flex between those adapters and SPI connector. Just look it at NOT to have any sharp twists / bents on it

4) And to completely rule our adaptors: Do a quick visual inspection, not to have anything between pins (check both sides), the soldering should look clean, and no solder bridges between pins or any debris. If you see anything, use a soft brush to clean them.

This is all I can think of for now, and after i get the model and EMC I could check more.

Also, macs can be picky about in what power mode you connect to them. For example on my personal A1466, i have to remove mag safe, remove battery, then connect mag safe, wait for it to start (spin fans) then press power button to shut down, and only then put connector in, and I can connect to it. In other power modes the mac's only SMC will control the data lines to the chip and wont release the control to the HDBOX.

Best regards,
HDBOX Support Team.

The model numbers that I had problems recently were A1466 and A1502 both of them unlocked before normally, now not.

They are exactly same computers you did before, or they diffrent computer, but from same family ? ( The A-number like A1466)

A1466 got quite a few EMC under it, and they range from 2010 to 2019, the emc tells us when the computer was mode, if newer generation or older generation, etc.

Emc 2559 - year 2012
. . . . . .
Emc 2925 - year 2015
. . . . . .
Emc 3178 - year 2017, ... all of them are A1466, but different beasts inside.

They were very old computers, one 2014 model and the other 2015 model

This was the undetectable macbook that I talked about

Hi
After unlocking some 5-6 laptops successfully, now the HDB stopped working for me I am really worried what happened that I can not detect a single MAC anymore. I check the direct flex cable it has contacts, the red light powers up, everything seems OK but no detection at all. Tried also all the power states. TBH those power states are just fancy steps, because when HDB was working I just detected laptops very fast in 10-20 minutes, without minding about power states.

But now what makes me very nervous is that same model A1466 that I have unlocked before successfully has no chance to be detected now. What has changed I don't know.

Maybe the macOS has hard-locked the firmware now with newer OS versions?

Can one of the developers help me cause the case is really strange?

Is it normal that the MACbook shuts down when I connect the debug port on the box?
( I don't remember it when it was working smoothly, how it reacted)

Model is A1466 EMC 2632

Solved by buying another box which is working smoothly in the begining, what can happen later I don't know
