3210 Switchs on then straight back off (Just flashes then goes off)

Hi,

I have a 3210 that, when it switches on, just switches back off again. It flashes like it is booting up and then goes blank again (Usually comes on for about 2 seconds). This happens every time i try to switch it on.
If i plug my cable in it reads the flash version and security code with no problem.
I have also read the flash and checked for errors but i cant find any. I have tried writing a different version but get the same problem leading me to believe its not a software problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rebels Advocate.

Download EEPROM Tools 4.0 - they can read your phone and show the results of the power-on self-tests of your phone and thus maybe the reason for the malfunction, too.

I'd guess your EEPROM aera is somehow damaged, try to flash a full backup of another 3210 or a virgin EEPROM.

I thought the 3210 EEProm was on a different chip and so flashing a V-EEProm would be impossible?

If i am incorrect please put me straight.

Outch .. you're absolutely right .. meanwhile there are that lot of phones flying around my head that I can't sort them out correctly ...

The 3210 certainly has got an external EEPROM (24c128), thus it can't be flashed with a virgin EEPROM of course.

EEPROM Tools 4.0 should be available from http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/ (section "Downloads") or from http://www.gsmschwantz.com/ - there should also be EEPROM Tools 3.1 ready for download.

So you can only program your 3210's EEPROM by an external programmer (search the board, this was discussed several times here AFAIK I remember) or try to fix it with several common tools (if only few parameters are incorrect) like Jordik's or Rolis' Tools.

Hope you'll succeed ...

Got EEProm tools v4 from B-Phreaks (I have already got v3.1) and it does give me a test option and test results. These show that nothing is wrong with the phone.

The odd thing is that the phone swiched on correctly before i ran the test (The phone has to be switched on before EEProm tools will recognise it).

I dont know why or how but it just started working for no visable reason.

I did plug the charger into the the phone and leave it in for around three days but it showed no sign that it was charging.

The phone now switches on, makes and recieves call and shows that it is charging!. Im not complaining.

My thoughts are that the battery may have died as they do over long periods of irregular charging and discharging and that my consistant charge may have recharged the cells so that they were once again at a working level (As they need to be when you first buy a phone).

Thanks for your help with this matter. I now have a very useful tool in EEProm tools v4 (which i did not know was even available).

Thanks again nsm-1,

Rebels Advocate.
