A mate of mine has also recently had this problem on his 8210, which he bought about a year ago. He took it to his local nokia center and they did a few tests while he waited. It failed 2 of the 8 tests, showing that the antenna was faulty, which they changed for £20. Tested it again and it passed all 8. He used it for a couple of days, and then the same thing occured. I have been informed that once this sort of thing happenes, if when repaired it still happenes, then the phone is more or less fu*ked.

My advice:

*#0000# it and check to see if the date onscreen is still within one year. If it is you can sort it under the warrenty for free, this also means if the handset needs replacing that it will be replaced for free. If it is out of the year, nokia allow usually 3 months on top of the original 12, for time that the phone sits on the shelf. If you can prove by receipt that is within this 15 months you should be ok.

Regards..

to check the date, don't use *#0000#, that displays the release the date of the MCU software, to check when the phone was made key in *#92702689# (or *#war0anty#) it will show the manufacture date there, but to get out of it you must turn off the phone.
