is it legal?

General question:I legitmately found an 8210 lost by owner. It said "sim card registration failed" on power-up. Owner untraceable, phone unusable. How can I unlock/unbar it, and is it legal? eg, i've read that changing IMEI is illegal, but what about unbarring?

Thanks!
Vijay

IT'S ALL ILLEGAL,all software in NOKIA phones are copyright of nokia and nobody have permission to tamper with it.But who cares,NOKIA don't pay your rent.If you want the phone to work you can change the imei with NK_CALC.Just look for it.

Just a Warning:you lose phone warranty,Don't take it to authorised repair centre or they will confiscate it

You say owner untraceable, but I doubt you handed it into the police to allow them too try.

Did you attempt a call to the service providers who could trace the owner in seconds? I doubt it again.

If you've found a phone and want too keep it then just say so, but drop the act, it fools no-one.

Yes of course its illegal, but since you've not even handed it in I doubt that you're that worried about that either.
