NokiaStuffNL 04-11-2001 20:27

Hy,

In the Netherlands, they have a little yoke now.
The police sends SMS to an mobile phone who's been stolen.
(not to the number, but they have an trick to sends SMS to an IMEI number)
This phone is registered as stolen, but I sold it fron the owner who bought it.
He report at the police that his phone was stolen, so he would get an other phone from the insurance.

So, iw want the get off this IMEI number!!!!

Hi Stephan

At the moment only people with nokia service equipment TDF4 FLA5 ect can change IMEI.

I too get phones that need IMEI changing usually cheaper from shows or second hand or banned for non payment of bill ect, and I need like everyone else, a solution to this problem regardless of it being illigal, this is a subject that most members are very interested in and waiting for solution.

Regards to all

Hi,
Yes that's the real deal, but Charly let me correct you. Even people with original equipment can't do it, because they need a SALO's good will for that.
Every one need that...

without the right HARDWARE & SOFTWARE, you won't be able to change it. you may have all the softwares but you won't be able to get all the hardwares unless you have a connection / insder at a nokia plant

NokiaStuffNL 04-16-2001 11:00

Hy,
Thnx again for replying!

I've got an friend who works at an official Nokia Service Center.
He sais that he can change the IMEI number with the original Nokia equipment they've got there.

Mayby I'll sneak my phone in there and change the IMEI.

But it's strange, because you can change the IMEI of the 51XX and 61XX easely with Bartek IMEI changer.

I'll mail him for some SW mayby?

Hi Bph&Co & Stepan

Bph&Co What the hell is a SALO I Know its not the new plant that nokia just opened in philipines (Even though they have) I guess its an insider at service center.

As far as I knew you could change IMEI with original equipment as long as you can re-calculate checksum/s, Dont get me wrong I will stand corrected if Im wrong, but I thought Wintesla could do this with original equipment, not that it matters really because the chances of getting this equipment are extreamly remote, plus I thought originally dejan was going to give solution with his latest offering but was told this would be VERY naughty and nokia would persue action if he did.

please enlighten me more Bph&Co as we are all here to learn m8.

Hi Charly,

If you played with WinTesla you'll see that you have a IMEI change function, but reading the help tells you that to do it, you need to read the phone and make a .log file. This file contains some phone data - production code, imei, MsID, and stuff like Dongle serial no.
So you have to mail this file to SALO (Department in Nokia) and give them a good reason why you want to change the IMEI.
They send you back another .log file which contains the IMEI programming data (Flash Authority ID) and SimLock area recalculated.
When you open this file and if everything is matching ( IMEI,MSID, production code of the file and the phone connected + dongle ser no)
you are able to write the data to the phone.
And your phone will be with new IMEI and working.

I have all this info from great friend Y2K
(thanks) and please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you just want to unlock your phone, or if the simlock data is corrupted, you receive a file only with recalculated simlock area, you don't overwrite the FAID.
But if you need to change Cobba - you have to do both. That's why Dejan box v1.3 can't change IMEI, it can alter FAID in a way that the PPM and MCU image checksums are changed, but if you change IMEI or Cobba, this require different calculation (I suppose) and that is not included even in TDF box.
That's why TDF box is a bit useless, for most of the things you need Nokia aproval.
I haven't seen Dejan box, but I'm sure is better investment than the original equipment.

And if he's right about his new box, that is able to recalculate the FAID + SimLock area - this mean that he finally made it - rebuilding a eeprom from nothing, change IMEI, repair Nokia's with bad FAID.

Time will show.....

Best Regards

Cheers Bph&Co

consider me enlightend m8 "Very interesting Reading"

I bet they dont give IMEIs log files away very often either I really dont see why you would need them other than transfering ownership from one phone to another which I thought you could do with wintesla, I mean i know you can transfer warranty ect with just the warranty cable but I understood it that IMEI could also be transfered, anyway you are correct i failed where most fail I didnt read the help file!!

Regards
Charlie
