soon. Could be a major change, could be just cosmetic. Let's wait and see. BR

FPS-8 boxes, because this boxes have smartcard connector from 2-3 years ago (when was released from Nokia). On POS (Point of Sale) devices (like FLS4) there is not any place where you can insert smartcard. And from my informations there will not be needed any smartcard for flashing and other regular operations. It will work (maybe) for RPL files calculation (no more need ASK -> RPL from Nokia servers). Best regards, Zulea

FPS-11 is composed of four main blocks: • USB2.0 HUB provides USB connections for each flashing port • Data processing block generates the actual flashing signals • Terminal power supply generates flashing/operating voltages for ports • Main power supply Nokia smart card SX-2 is necessary for mobile terminal programming using FPS-11. Smart card refused phone flashing authorization. Following reasons might cause this problem: 1. Smart card has expired. 2. Smart card has been disconnected, even for a very short time. 3. Connection to the smart card has been lost. Solution: 1. In this release, there is no way to insert the smart card, once it has been removed after the PIN code has been verified. You have to restart Phoenix components. 2. If smart card cannot be detected after startup, it might be damaged. 3. If smart card is detected after startup and PIN code verification succeeds but veryfication fails again, smart card might have expired. Luciano P.S. I don't like the part with expiration...

And indeed: it would be very nice to get rid of the email ASK / RPL process via such a way. The major question is: what is the first model that needs the FPS-10 / FPS-11 and cannot work with the older DCT4 service tools? The FPS-11 is only now released to let have the bigger service centers a better flash possibility for the current models: 8 indepentdent DCT4 models on 1 PC, a major change for example in comparision with the FPS-8C.

He had to extract & debug all FLS function algorithm and to implement in another HW and of course to maintain compatibility with Ph & Wt sw. Imagine only to test, and after this to manufacture.... Luciano

What memory can have such an smart card to keep few phone user data backups 1-2 Mb? What about Symbian phones with huge user data ? No chance. And nothe that Smart card has also limited valability. Smartcard will not do any things except security function to calc some sec data. Luciano
