The v100 is a zinner diode with failure polarety of lets say (9v1/250ml-watt.). it lies at the circuit reversed ( anode to Grnd , and cathode to charging line ) .when the charging voltage increases than 9v1 that diode acts reversley to discharge the exess volt to ground and to keep the charging volt within 9v1/250 mw max. if the volt increases too much , and the total power exceeds the 1/4 watt limit , the diode collapses to short , so a short across the charging line and the Grnd appears. | |
