i use user code edit &i use service i read code FAILED!!!
Can't read user code! or Code is default 12345 i use bb5 urgent help me

FRIEND IAM 1000% SURE YOUR CABLE IS NOT GOOD.

PLESE CHECK IT.

i check 2 cable same problem.......................................... i doing method is ok or bad

I was the same problem

I make the next procedure :

use JAF and try to flash with a higher flash in dead USB MODE ....
after that you can set the full factory default with FBUS mode normal

you unlock any bb5 with out fbus cable you need only
use usb cable or power supply you connect set with supply then on set or
connect usb cable set go too test mode & local mode
& you can unlock user code factory default life time

very easy way
to any bb5 user code
tested by me
