6310i no GSM 900

hey there, my 6310i just developed a fault, the fault being that it wont work or i think it doesnt work in the 900mhz band. the phone is Orange uk branded and locked to that network. The phone shows full signal and works perfectly on Orange but when i go and select network manually it only shows the 2 GSM 1800 networks, T-Mobile and orange, you sometimes get o2 and vodafone but only when your high up, might be because they operate on gsm 1800 in built up areas. when i put in a T-Mobile sim the phone says phone restricted could this have anything to do with the sim lock??. well what i'm really asking, is this a hardware fault or software fault its because i'm changing to o2 (gsm 900) and was going to get the phone unlocked but if the phone wont work in the 900 band i wont bother, pity because i liked the phone. any help is appreciated.

Regards
