if your MSID is like this 000001101001 u need to flash MCU+PPM to phone.. after that check... otherwise post in hardware repair section for better response.

Hi

If you changed your cobba , you will not get any signal until you re-calibrate ALL RF values with specialised test equipment.

Not true.
You dont need any calibration......
Write mcu+ppm to phone and then calculate FAID...
if not work write new EEPROM (virgin if u have),change imei, calculatze faid and all ok.......

COBBA stores RF A/D values

Change COBBA = CHANGED RF A/D values = SIGNAL PROBLEMS

Nokia Mobile Phones Service Bulletin No. SB-061/19.11.01
Technical Support, Europe & Africa

NSM-3

NEW COBBA VERSION (4370793)

Due to material availability new COBBA version has been released for NSM-3.

New COBBA (4370793) is backward compatible with previous COBBA version (4370643).

Old material in stock can be used, but new spare part orders must be placed to code 4370793.

Note: When COBBA is changed IMEI rebuild and RF tunings must be carried out.

CODE ITEM PG DESCRIPTION
Old 4370643 N250 35 COBBA_GJP V4.1 V257BG64T/8 BGA64
New 4370793 N250 35 COBBA_GJP V4.1 V257JG64T/8 BGA64

M@RTY YOU ARE NOT RIGHT!!!

It does not matter which COBBA you put unless the type is the

same! OK! Maybe phone will not work as good as before, but it

will work without significant problem. The guy who can not get

tx power should write good eeprom and calculate imei & faid

programming data!

That`s it. No need to argue. Already tested by me on tenth of units!

Best Regards

The answer is you took cobba from old pcb which would still have RF A/D values stored for that phone , no two phones have the same RF A/D values due to tolerences in components , the phone will never be 100% until RF is calibrated.

New pre-balled cobba i.c's are blank , thats why ALL nokia service material about changing cobba states RX/TX values must be re-aligned.

@ BufferMess

"That`s it. No need to argue. Already tested by me on tenth of units!"...............Who is argueing ? , i am only giving my advice.

All of u are confusing me!!!
I've tried changing the 3310 (NSM-5) COBBA (which i didn't notice the type),
and it is still de same
I've done this:-
write MCU=200000-330000
write PPM=330000-3D0000
Write Virgin Eeprom=3D00000
Then i correct the IMEI, calculate the Faid, and reset the SP lock.
BUT i still don't get the SIGNAL!!!

Nowhere! Nokia original GSM Tester is a huge collection of equipment which costs high enough to make us ------>>>>>>

M@RTY: OK! You were giving advice. Sorry for that! But you were insisting on your claim. Theoretically, you are right! However, don`t forget that we are conversating in GSM Forum not in Nokia Service Centres Meeting. Nobody here have such an equiplement nor such money to invest. RF values in the virgin eeprom are quite enough to run the phone without problems in any network.
It was tested hundred times by many people in this forum. Works perfectly!

hooi76: After changing COBBA msid will be like as you saw. Just write virgin eeprom and calculate necessary data. Don`t forget that new models of COBBA are backward compatible but older ones are NOT forward compatible!

Best Regards

Hi,
All are correct, beacuse phone can show signal with our calibration but it's more better to calibrate it to have a good working phone.
Good luck
