Member: 1986751 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | It seems like Windows is trying to install a Nokia USB ROM driver ? Could this be the problem that Phoenix can connect to the phone while it is in test mode? I have of course installed the latest version of the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver, but it seems like it is not enough? |

Member: 2186348 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Same problem here I have exactly the same problem, on win xp, win7 and win8. More details: on Win XP the problem is most clear: halfway the procedure the 'Found new hardware' wizard pops up, asking for driver for 'NOKIA USB ROM'. On win7 I don't get the option of installing a driver manually; only the error: device not installed. The device is only briefly visible when I try to flash; it appears in the device list under 'other devices' for 2s, then disappears. With win8, no error messages, but afterwards there is something visible in the devicemanager: when 'show hidden devices' is checked, there is a section 'other devices' with NOKIA USB ROM greyed out and with the 'driver not installed' symbol. I use the latest version of Phoenix. Tried everything suggested on this forum and elsewhere: installed and de-installed the latest data cable software from Nokia, even the PC-Suite (which doesn't support this phone.) The problem is driving me crazy, because others on this forum succeeded without this problem; someone I know got it to work on windows8, but he cannot say why it works for him but not for me:-( Could it be because I have win8/64 instead of win8/32? (I read somewhere a warning about that) ewr: manually installing this driver seems a good suggestion; might work on XP and maybe win8. But I can't find the driver-software (just lots of those ****ty driver-downloaders promising the goods but not delivering them, only advertisements). Mabel |
