Nokia 6101 keypad key is always pressed - GSM-Forum

Dear all,

The Nokia 6101 i am having woked fine until the number 2 key gave me trouble when I want to use it for texting. At the beginning when i press the key twice or three times I get the charactor I wanted, unlike other keys. Now the entire key pad is not responding (power off works though) as soon as I press any key the number 2 appears in the screen. It is almost that key is pressed by default.

If I press number 3 or (any other number) that number will appear followed by number 2 again. Most of the time I hear the number 2 key sound from the phone (bcoz it is pressed)

any help highly appreciated.

Never mind, I have repaired it.

I opened the cover and removed the keypad. Then made a small cut in the thin white sheet over the key contact to reach the conductive pad (which was having a little offset). After placing it properly everything worked fine

I still can't figure out what made the conductive pad to have an offset. I am so happy to repair it for $3.19 (Torx #6 screwdriver from sears)
