Nokia 8910 shell problem

I have problem with titanium shell of Nokia 8910. After replacing the flex cable, the shelf is opening too fast, not slowly as it is factory designed. Can you suggest me where is the problem, or where I can found free service manual.
Thanks,

Nokia 8910 Fast opening SLide problem ?

Nokia 8910 - i have the same problem where the slide opens too fast, unlike the normal factory setting it opens slow. I know it has something to do with the black cog wheel but i dont know how to make it turn stiffer? I need help, i would appreciate any help i can get.

8910 shell open

:( Anyone know how to open the shell of my 8910? (just the 2 screws at the bottom???)
It keeps jumping open - no longer nice & slow like it used to.

I notice only queries on this sort of issue & no solutions.

Anyone know of a solution to this issue?

(without buying another shell ;-)

TIA
Zoltan

i have done a couple of 8910s, 1stly is the spring end in the correct position-goes into the round plastic opening at the bottom of the board. is then held in place by the metal bridge which is screwed down, fiddly to put back on. i have never had problems with its running, when done right.ar the runners in there correct position? ar the running clips correctly positioned on the sides?
all the best..... u know where i am if u need me.

Hi Mr Phoneman,
Thanks for replying.

Let's start at the beginning.....

When I compare my phone to my wife's 8910, there seems no (external) difference, yet mine can rock from side to side much more - especially when open.

Do I need to first remove the sleeve from the phone?
How? - The two outside screws at the bottom, or the two inside, next to the simcard?

What & how else must I first open-up?

(In fact I reckon once I've worked out how to open the phone without first bu**ering it up it should be plain to see what is wrong???)

TIA,
Zoltan.

i think it's better for you when you bring the phone to any service centre

zoltan 06-18-2004 07:43

Thanks for the tip "gsm style"
I did just that as a first port of call and the technician wanted to charge me the equivalent of nearly $400US.

I thought it wouldn't exactly be brain surgery to ask if anyone could point out to me which screws to loosten and catches to pop open to get the slider shell off the phone with ending up with a pile of nuts and bolts stuck inside the phone.

Anyone still prepared to give some pointers?

If it'll make your day, I'd *really* be grateful ;-)

did you change the grip or only the flex cable? there exist 2 versions "grip module" and "back cover" these cannot be mixed with eachother

8910 Opening Instructions

Hello forum,

Far as the 8910 opening fast, i still cant work out that one. too stop the 8910 rocking side to side when open you must tighten the metal bracket, which is located under the chrome logo. You must push the phone in a little then tighten it.

replace the black clutch wheel and the speed in openning will be ok I changed more than 15 pieces of this spare

zoltan 06-19-2004 13:06

Hey Guys! Cool it!
I haven't even opened the phone yet.

I have removed the battery & simcard and also the plastic/chrome logo.

My question is/was: How do I separate the shell from the phone?
There are 2 screws (one on either side of the simcard) inside
and 2 screws outside at the bottom of the phone.

Which ones must I remove?
How do I get the shell off the runners/phone body?

TIA,
Zoltan

To everyone with the 8910 problem where the phone ejects too fast, i have found a cheap and easy solution. You will need some plumbers tape or gas tape this is the stuff used around pipes threads to seal it. You can find this at your local hardware store, cut a small piece of the tape and wrap it around the black cogwheel making sure too apply tension to the tape as you apply it, so it gets into the teeth of the cog. Do atleast 3 laps of tape and try to sqeeze some into the small gap underneath the cogwheel. piece the phone back together, making sure that the metal bracket is secured tighly while the phone is pushed in a few millimeters to avoid rocking of the top section. This method works for me and the phone opens slowly again im sure for how long but its worth a try if you cant get your hands on a new cog wheel like me.

Goodluck
