Oldie but goldie .....

Oldie for y'all.

Replaced cog wheel and ribbon on my beloved 8910 BUT now the slider is no longer 'active' i.e doesn't end calls when you close it and so on.

My 8850 has been much repaired over the years (still in good service) and I can see the microswitch on the bottom of its board that activates the 8850 slider, but nothing equivalent on the 8910!

I'm scratching my head over how the 8910 knows its open or closed !

Any help would be appreciated.

beloved Nokia 8910...

Hello
I'll help U
Nok 8910 & 8910i have under the rubber of the microphone a smal metalic piece (magnetic)
When that magnetic piece is removed or lost (I think in your case) the slider is no longer active...
Find the magnet and restore it in it's place... and thw phone will be fine...
Good luck
PS the new ribbon if it cames with bottom connector doesn't have the magnetic piece on it...
I think it's better this way , slidernot active because you can reject calls...
otherway if slider is active you can't do nothing to reject a call but turn off the phone... (this is the reason that I quit using my 8910 , but still keep one in my private collection).
BR

Cheers Steamroller !

The new ribbon did indeed come with the charger block attached. I'll check the old one, but I'm pretty sure I've lost the part you refer to.

I'll try and source another.

Thanks for your help - it makes sense now.
If anyone in the UK can source this part please post reply.

Cheers.
