i always use root sofware when it comes to install apps with root permission, but when it comes to unlock devices iuse cf-root

No, Note 5 have Android version most advanced.

When Ask if one device is supported or Not, post Always Version of Firmware, version of Android and many other details.

And Most important LOOCK Thread/Post Data, we are in 2020 these are post of 2016/2017 and many things are changed.

You can Root with MAGISK + TWRP, it's Safe and sure method in 2020.
