Member: 1400954 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | VW Beta CC - How to read the MCU Sorry for my bad english. I have an old VW Beta Radio and lost the Code. I have read many posts, but i cant find the solution for me. The Radio is manufactured from Blaupunkt / VW. It bis the model Beta CC. I have read, that the only way to get the Code is to read the flash in the MCU. The MCU is the MC68HC05B8. I have to programm a Atmega an ISP Connector. Can I use that? Do i have to desolder the MCU? Or can i solder the wire to the MCU and read the flash? Do i have turn on the Radio to read the Flash? This is only a hobby project for me. The Tape-Deck is broken and i only want use the radio in my hobby room Can you please help me? Regards Blonder |

Member: 1400954 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hello! I used the search button. But i cant find the solution. Probably I'm looking all the time wrong? I have read that i must use a motorola programmer. Is that right? Are there any other way to read the MCU? For example with a ISP Cable or a little circuit with an MAX232? I dont want to buy an expensive adapter or programmer. Only $10 and i can get a new Radio with Code from Ebay. It's just an interesting project. Regards Blonder |

Member: 1400954 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hello! Thank you for the link. I have read this thread any days before. And i have not see the manual. Sorry. Build the Circuit with the Max232 is no problem for me. Then i must solder the four wires to the Chip and power on the Radio to read it out? Sorry, but i dont have ever programmed a MCU Regards Blonder |

Member: 1400954 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hello! I have problems to get it to work. I have build the Circuit with the Max232 and soldered the wires to the MCU. With the MC6[1].2 i tried to boot the MCU. After a few tries, the Display at the Radio writes each boot trying diferent character. But the connection is not established. I have checked the Circuit many times and i could not find a fault. Do you have any ideas? Or am I doing something wrong? Regards Blonder |

Member: 1400954 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hello! I have seen until now, that is used in the circuit (by Patric), an additional quartz 8MHZ. For other I have not seen yet. Can this be my problem? I'm totally confused, because here in the forum a lot different off versions and options are. I have build the Schematic from here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f179...newbie-503264/ (MOT interface and manuals.ZIP) the Schematic in the PDF. It is the same then above without the quartz. Then i connected: RxD to Pin52 (TD0) TxD to Pin50 (RDI) Reset to Pin 18 (Reset) GND to GND Is that right? I use to read the MCU Motocracker 6.2. Is that right? I'm thankful for every tip! Regards Blonder |

Member: 1400954 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | And another addition: (sorry, I can not edit posts?) I have soldered the reset cable again. There was a mistake. Now i have in the Display "Safe". When the Reset signal is sending, the Display is turned off. I think that is correct. When i tried to boot the MCU the "Safe" is blinking in the Display. A connection can still not be established but i cant find another fault. Are there other Software to read the MCU? Or is the computer incorrectly set? Or must i do something else in addition? Regards Blonder |

pay attention on TXD and RXD must be crossed for proper connection TXD from max to RXD of radio and reverse ,reset signal will for shore power down the unit , unit shall be in off state when booting and check mod A and mod B in most cases both must be tight to GND sometimes it work with orig 8.664 xt but rear can establish connection and can cause wrong read ,you must find 8.000 MHZ and exchange it when booting mcu | |
