Member: 871 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 602 | All infomation stated below are my personal conclusions derived from careful testing and experiments with many phones. If you think that they are wrong, then they might be I am currently using WinDDP 3.0 to add customized tones. I don't know if this is applicable when using Flashtone. Anyway, I was able to add 76 customized tones on a 5110 5.30. If you want to add tones to phones with 'Recieved Tone' or 'Custom Tone' spaces, make sure that you don't go over the maximum default tones in the PPM. For example in 3310, there are 35 default tones. If you want to add customized tones in the PPM, make sure you remove some of the default tones so that after you are done modifying, there are still 35 tones in the PPM! If you go beyond 35, for example you put 45 tones, you will not be able to use your customized tones from the composer or tones sent by logomanager! You can save these tones to the EEPROM, but you cannot access them for use with your profiles! I think this is so because the Index for the customized tones are set at a given location (36, 37, 38 ...) and if you put other tones in this location, you will not be able to use it anymore!!! The truth about 256 ringtones... Yes you can add 256 tones to the PPM, but you cannot use the 256 tones altogether because your phone will only access around 62-76 tones depending on the length of your tones!!! This happens I think because the phone only recognizes the ringtones upto a given address, let us say only from 003576C0 up to 0035FFFF... Ringtones inserted beyond 0035FFFF will not be accessed anymore I think MCU does not limit the number of tones in the phone so theorically, seeing 256 working tones in your phone is possible if each of your tones are only 1 second long! LOL On PPM Packages (Euro and Asia) Only Euro packages support actual names in ringtones, for asia packages, the MCU assigns a default name 'Type 1', 'Type 2' for each ringtones depending on their location. So if you try to add Custom Ringtones to your ASIA PPM package, expect to get garbage symbols when viewing the ringtone using your phone. The MCU prevents actual tone names to be displayed!!! So always use EURO packages for adding customized tones... Ringtone Naming Convention (This is my personal opinioin) Each ringtone in the PPM is devided into 3 parts namely the following: 1. INDEX - composed of 4 characters (pref. ALL CAPS) 2. Actual Name - composed of 13 characters 3. Actual Tone Code - The ringtone in .bin format Example: Ringtone BEE from 3310 Euro PPM: ..<_BEE.....Bee.........Z._....@.@[email protected]._.... @........ INDEX = ..<_BEE..... ..< Tone Header _BEE Actual 4-char index ..... Trailing space after index (5 spaces) Actual Name = Bee.......... Actual Tone Code = Z._....@.@[email protected]._....@........ Compare with Ringtone BEE rfom 3310 Asia PPM: ..<_BEE.................Z._....@.@[email protected]._.... @........ Notice there is no actual tone name in asia packages!!! On finding Signal after Upload of PPM... Their is a difference between Calculating Flash Authority ID, and Setting Flash Authority ID. Calculate Flash Authority ID calculates default PPM stored information assuming that they are correct and are not changed! Setting Flash Authority ID calculates actual PPM infomation! WinDLS and nk_calc and other programs only "Calculates Authority ID", meaning it uses stored PPM information and not the actual modified PPM information. WinDDP version 2.60 and 3.0 "Sets Authority ID" meaning it calculates from actual PPM information! Also I think TEK calculator can do this but with a long process... Compared to WinDDP 3.0, it is only 1 button click and your phone is ok On changing message alert tones... Do you really want to change message alert tones into ring tone sounding tones??? Don't you find the Ascending Alert Tone or even the Special Alert Tone annoying enough??? Hmmmm,,,, well for those who want to be more annoying, yes it is possible! But with a few restrictions... Message Alert tones on most DCT3 are set to a specific length in the MCU, thus making this very long might affect the rest of the code below it! However, on some DCT3 phones like 6210/50 and 7110, the message alert tones are stored in the PPM for Standard, Special and Beep Once... but I cannot find Ascending!!! Maybe it is still stuck in the MCU Anyway, if you want to change your message alert tones in 6210/50 and 7110, all you have to do is remove the default alert tones and insert ringtones with INDEXes and names as follows: Special Alert Tone: Index = SMSS Actual Name = Special Standard Alert Tone: Index: _SMS Actual Name = Standard Beep Once Alert Tone: Index: BSMS Actual Name = Beep Once You can even change the Battery Empty Tone to a ringtone!!! Recharge Battery Tone: Index: BATR Actual Name = ToneBattRe Hope this information helps you guys! Best Regards, X-Shadow |
