Question C60 becomes very hot after it is powered on...

Hello, to all!

I have Siemens C60, which becomes very hot near keyboard after being switched on and discharged battery very quickly. But in powered off state it behaves itself ok.
We tried to change Dialog IC and almost all belonging to network area - No result.

Does anybody have any idea?

hi friend,
i have this problem too.
Changed Dialog, and Cpu also not help.
It must be some bad capacitor around cpu and dialog. But i have no part to replace it yet.

If some one know the solution, please help us.

Most simple solution:
Disassembley the phone.
Remove BB cover.
Give power to phone and manually (touch all components) find out what is heating.
Repleace faulty component.

PS: Heat is not a monitor of the fault. If dialog is heating then other parts can also be faulty.

It's drawing too much current which is not likely due to an IC or the processor. Are the LEDs very bright? Have they been modded at all?

A o/c resistor or diode is more likely to cause over-voltage/current than anything else, even though capacitors can limit current.

Plug in phone charger and probe the + and - battery connectors with multi-meter. Shouldn't be no more than 2V with no load (1.5v on my A55 ) I believe without battery in place.

Also check the current using same method. If you're not sure how to do this with a metre, don't risk it. Current should be tiny, about 5-200mA at a guess, maybe even less (even though the charger is probably rated 300mA and battery at 700mA). If possible, test current and voltage with battery in place and phone on to get a more accurate real-time reading. This will tell you if the phone is operating out of range (I'm sure you'll be able to track down some specs for the phone).

If you have flashed the phone, you might need to reflash the battery parameters to the original config. If you didn't save these before flashing, try searching the net as all original flasher files are available.

Sorry I can't be of specific help, and I apologise for the vague values above.

Right - usualy C60 / A60 hot battery problem can be solved by CPU resoldering and/or test cut rework.

you need to check CPU pin attachment for leakage of current flow from battery.
