Csr usb bluetooth device problems connecting nokia 6310i

hi,

i have a csr bluetooth device with midcomm bluetooth software 1.4.2 and when i try to connect my nokia 6310i via serial port bluetooth with various programs like nokia pc suite or mobius px or oxygen 2.2 , my phone starts to establish connection to this device then disconnects, then begans a loop between this two.

My nokia 6310i has 4.07 firmware version and tryed with other nokia 6310i with 5.22 firmware version. This problem is because of the firmware version?

Yes!

You need firmware 5.50 or newer

i've the same problem as above.
nokia 6310i with 5,50 firmware from eragsm (poland) + x-micro BT.

I am in the middle of this mess too. After endless fiddling, I flashed the f/w on the 6310i to 5.50, which made no diff. Then I removed Widcomm and tried BlueSoleil. No diff. Then, following step x step from Jon's Guide, I tried IBM's BT s/w. Still no diff. I have written to my cell carrier, but they are of little help, just like Nokia. And many, many e-mails to Billionton produce rare and broken-english replies, which is V frustrating. Still trying...

did somebody tested fw 5,52???

Well...I spent quite some time with a rep. from my cel carrier, plus I spoke to their t/s people, plus I received 2 e-mails from t/s. Through all of this, I have been given two different sets of parmeters; one is supposedly for GPRS "MicroBrowser" access from/in/with the 6310i, and the other is supposedly for USING the 6310i as a modem to permit the laptop to connect to the www.

Well, there is a gateway # given, plus TWO DNS addreses, a username, a p/w, an APN, and 6 possible "Dial Strings". Now I am frantically trying to figure out where -- (into which device) -- I must enter these numbers.

The phone offers a place to enter a home page; and if I enter "mymobilehomepage.com", and use "goam.com" as my APN...I can use the MicroBrowser.

But the carrier says I must use a different APN - "internet.com" - and a whole different set of numbers to establish a connection between the phone and the laptop [in order to surf the 'net].

I'll be damned if I can get the laptop & phone to stay connected for longer than 2 seconds!! (So I am not able to determine if the 'traditional' surfing is working.)

I let them talk me into signing up for a 'data access' plan, but so far I'm wasting my time. It is VERY frustrating!!

[Some] Progress!!

Aha! Since my ball & chain is away for the day, I sat down with the laptop, the 6310i, the landline, and a pot of coffee. I ended up with Nokia t/s (in Tampa, FLA!!) for quite a while, and we actually made some exciting progress!

The laptop will now reach out to the cellphone and connect...and STAY connected! AND...

...if I launch the DUN in the laptop, it WILL cause the cellphone to initiate a GPRS connection...and it too will remain connected [to my cell carriers server!!] But...

...I cannot get out onto the www. There is some eensy-weensy setting anomaly somewhere that is preventing me from accessing the Internet. So...

...I put in a call to the cell provider. I demanded to speak to a really tech-savvy person. He understands what I am trying to do -- yea!! -- but his system is down, so he needs to wait an hour or two before he can walk me through the issue in real time.

Geez. I am sooooo close. And man! This is sooooo complicated! I cannot imagine how someone with little or no computer knowledge could possibly navigate this hassle.

I will keep this forum in the loop.

More detail will follow...but it was another sub-menu [in the phone]. Something about GPRS modem settings. It was set to use the Microbrowser APN. Changed it to "internet.com", and BINGO.

<Evil cackling>
