my k800i , same problem, i gave to service engineer and after 4 days he says he is not able to repair it, some main board problem he told.

now i want to try this removing 3100 crystal and shorting the pins method. but i have following specific quires before opening my phone.

1. any/what method to use to prevent any ESD damage to phone.
2. How to remove 3100 crystal? its too small, will smd solder tip work.
3. any other major step to follow during the whole procedure, (from people who have done this thing).

i also have some problem on camera hardware, as seen in pic, is its just mis placement of some part? or what. can someone tell.

Luckily i got K800i disassembly video from http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/arch.../t-499462.html and will follow the same for opening.

@kuldeepmob

1. ESD shouldn't be of concern, since probability of damage during this is inconciderable small.

2. If you don't have an Hot Air Reflow station (and I presume from your question, that you don't), you shoud use wide solder tip, with lot of solder on it, and warm up element until released. (this can be done, with small non particulary GND-ed components, as tihs one)

- clean PCB pads (places where component holds to PCB) with solder wick & large tip afterwards.

- do NOT try to mecannicaly remove the component - PCB traces damage possible!!!

When finished with removal, proceed with jumpering (sharp/needle soldering tip needed)

re. picture: not quite sure what can be cause...

I dismantle few of these condition cameras, and each one appears to have this part functional afterall. - Which means that with proper DC & inversing polarity, I was able to open/close camera shutter, wich lead me to conclusion that is malfunction elsewhere.

(Didn't have time to look further, tough)

@Kruscher and @fanbang
1. can i directly short at "these" (in pic) points Without removing the IC? will that be a correct method. (Coz anyway it will permanently switch the signal path, am i right)

2. detailed pics of camera module are these, i guess i have to open the module to correct it. Could this be a reason for "another application running" message.

Please guide . .

N3100 is SE documentation number, the IC name is SN74LVC2G66YZPR.
go to ti.com (texas instrument, the manufacturer of this IC) and ask for free sample or buy online from TI.com or Digikey
