V640/K630 Audio Issue (Buzzing Noise)

Problem
Buzzing or Crackling sound heard from the receiver during call.

The problem is also caused when the charger is inserted to the phone when placing call.

Root Cause
The Root Cause of the issue is from SMT production, during the screen printing of solder paste not enough has been applied to Mic PCBA pads, therefore causing dry solder joints that creates the buzzing sound under certain conditions.

Unclear of how many affected units due to unclear production weeks are affected, units we have received so far were produced WK816

Solution
Remove B3100 Mic add solder to PCBA Mic pads then re-solder B3100 Mic.

Retest the Mic and verify if its working from service menu tests and live call.

SMT production have been informed to tighten there process for screen printing.

W380/Z555, Display Problem UPDATED

This document is applicable for W380 and Z555

Introduction
If a customer returns a phone (W380 or Z555) due to a problem with the main display, one possible cause is a damaged main LCD flex that is shorting against the metal frame of the upper front cover.

Solution
In the process of addressing the inner display problem, if the step is reached in the troubleshooting procedure to replace the Upper Front Cover assembly (This assembly contains the inner display) add the Protective Plate Tape to eliminate the risk of the LCD flex shorting to the metal frame.

NOTE!
If the upper portion of the phone is disassembled for any reason, you should check for the presence of the Protective Plate Tape. If Protective Plate Tape is not present it should be added. Even if the LCD flex does not appear damaged, add the Protective Plate Tape to eliminate the risk of the problem arising later and causing a re-return.

Refer to the Mechanical Working Instructions of each model, for detailed instructions on proper placement of the Protective Plate Tape for that model.

SI – Update “Use DCU-65 instead of DCU-60”

Affected products:
DCU-60

Description:
This SI is an update/clarification on the SI 16248-69241.

It has been discovered that the DCU-60 is not really speed compliant. This may effect performance and potential fails while flashing a product with Emma.

To be on the safe side and simplify the message, it is recommended that no matter which product platform, (that use USB) Service Centres should ONLY use the DCU-65 cable (RPM13112).

DCU-65 has got 2 "big bubbles" on the physical cable. These "bubbles" are de-coupling devices to remove interference. The DCU-65 cables are a bit shorter than the DCU-60 cables.
