Smart-Clip dead after use of wrong polarity on power Adapter!!!

I have put it on power adapter and unlock the phone, after 10-15 seconds there was an bad smell coming from Clip and he was dead.......i checked the power adapter and so that polarity is not on the right place and that is why power adapter killed the Clip....Clip is not gut protected for this kind of damage, has no chip to prevent this things to happend!!!

3 chips inside r melted...they r behinde the connector for power adapter, can somebody open the Clip and tell me what colors r 2 chips R1 and R2?

Best regards,

You have ****n your clip- the clip is a fantastic product and it is the user ( ie you ) has made the mistake with the polarity.

A bit like bolting the door after the horse has bolted.

can you take a picture of the damaged chipos and i will look for you which is which- but i cannot think which are talking about .

in all honesty i think that you will have to purchase a new one- but it is such an valuble product i would think that you would get your money back rather quickly especially with the new updates and supported phones.

Just had a look a the pcb in my smart clip.....Smart Clip has reverse voltage protection built in. Looks like all you have done is burnt out the 2 x 1 ohm resistors and/or the reverse protection diode (probably gone short cct) at the power input. Any competent tech would be able to put that right for a few squids ...easy peasy !
EDIT: most certainly it's the two resistors (1 ohm) that u refer to that have burnt out if u only used a low current adaptor then diode is probably ok
This IS part of the protection circuit !!

Ooh dear I'm sure you can source 2 x 1 ohm 1/2 watt resistors locally !!! if not take them out of something else old m8 ........ ! (or a 0.5 ohm 1 watt will do)
Edit: If diode faulty ...USE anything better than 200 PIV @ 1 AMP
