same situation,
first the soft hang on reading backup, phone not unlocked but no damage.
second try soft hang wile unlock in writing, result phone dead.

now when try to flash:

Press power on !
Starting communication ...
Platform: E-Gold Voice ...
Error ... !
Time needed - 00:01:15

we hope fg will fix it soon.
