VDF 246 unlocking problem

Hi!

I'm using FG USB Dongle and Profilic 2303 or FTDI Cable, both with 5V output. Cables are soldered directly to phones PCB.

The problem is, that I always get this error:

Quote:
Software engine version: 1.0.0.5478
Insert cable in box now [NO BATTERY INSIDE PHONE] !
Starting communication ...
Platform: E-Gold Voice3-32 [00 00] ...
Preloader sent ....
Error ... !
Time needed - 00:00:09
And I already read the thread with the 4 booting ways inside the sticky. But If I insert a battery it starts to charge (as it should).

THX!

Regards
Chris

Finally I unlocked the first 246.

As .:hack3r2k:. said, Pinouts from SagDD are not working on German phones, who knows why... And that was my prob.

I unlocked the 246 with pinout from Vodafone.pdf
But with my GS101 cable it is not working. The cable is working fine for GS101.

Can the Resistor be the problem? I have got 150k R inside and not 130k as at the shematics. But for GS101 it is working fine.

Right, it is not difficult. But via cable it is much more easier, faster, saver and cleaner.

So there is no reason to prefer unlock via testpoints

THX, but as I said in my 1st posting, I already read the sticky

I also read something about changing RX and TX from GS101 cable, but can't find anything inside the sticky?
And you said THX for a posting, where it was posted. Or is THX only related to the picture of the mod of the box?

Time of the time this issue moves up. =) And actually all depends on point of view. Is "Rx" shown on picture "from" or "To" device. And if connection is unsuccessfull it is always advised to swap Rx and Tx wires and test alternate pinout.

But in case with your phone the correct way is to use pinout from Vodafone.pdf , because it seems cable way there is not work.

It doesn't matter if we speak about RX or TX if we only speak about crossing RX/TX from GS101 cable!

But how can it be possible that cable solution will work at one phone and with others not?!

Actually gs101 and vdf246 are different models , both has the same connector only and that's all. And question where to place Rx or Tx on this connector is phone producer buisness =)

Concerning your question, the reason could be different SW or HW releases or some HW components fault , after tries to connect vdf246 using nokia usb cable for example.

I still haven't solved my problem!

If I solder the cable directly to the PCB every thing is ok, see the attached log.
But with my GS101 cable I don't get any connection. Only sometimes I get connection but then I also get the error you can read in my first post.

I also tried to remove the 5V from USB and to attach my external, adjustable power supply. With this I tried it with 3,3V and Battery and also with the normal 5V w/o battery procedure. Everytime the same!

@.:hack3r2k:.
You already told us, that the 246 from Germany is a littlebit diffrent and that also SagemDD pinout is not working.
But have you ever tested to unlock a 246 via micro usb cable?
Is the resistor, which is inside GS101 cable, important for VDF 246??

THX!

Regards
Chris

Hi!

You never worked with it means you never get it working on that phone, right?
That sounds like a terrible unlock for a very cheap phone

Compared to siemens where on some cases you had to cut the pcb i think this method is decent. Some variants work ok some not. Hell no ideea why
