About closing bootrom on MTK devices
 

Hi
We all lately heard about closing the bootrom on many MTK devices
Can admins here explain more about it and how to know if the bootrom on devices we have to fix is locked or not

The problem is that with last updates even phones supported become not supported and if we try that can kill the phone
So is there a way to check if bootrom is closed before we do a job to not kill the phone ?

Identifying phone wont kill phone. There is always a risk even in servicing phone without opening the phone, the safe way is to search for successful log , check check for supported model, if in Identifyinf got error dont force it wait for update/solution.

New VIVO MTK security update :
- No more (META/ATE/Preloader/BootROM) on VIVO MTK Devices.
- About Android (September 2022) patch level on VIVO devices.
Even (MT6762/MT6765) now can't be serviced via preloader mode (not even Read Info).
- In this patch, the PL_DA signature were (patched/changed) in preloader code and preloader mode now requires server authorization.
- we all know BootROM by DA exception disabled in (April 2022) patch, and test point blocked on the last month patch (August 2022).
- Now with (September 2022) OTA, they disable unauthorized preloader boot (the public Download Agent for MT6765 which works in preloader mode will not work anymore, and will send (0x7024) response (EPP signature mismatched)).
Devices that have been confirmed and affected by the update :
- VIVO Y12 PD1904
- VIVO Y21 PD2139F
The updates are SoC based, so all (MT6762/5) will follow.
The update still beta, so it will be applied on all (MT6762/5) devices in the upcoming days, to test the new update, you need to download the beta version from settings.

you can not kill phone with boot try
as about bootrom I am sure people in this therad understand nothing about that so I suggest to everybody do not copy/paste texts that looks like "very scientific text"
