no. it will not be nokia downfall. i think its their advantage.
I bet that you live in a poor country...
Nokia lost smartphone selling sector...the cheap Nokia ones are still selling well because of the reputation...but this will not last long: Nokia will lose this sector too if it's not changing their policy...

Nokia is Destroyed by its own Operating System - Symbian. It ***** and there is no progress in it, while google keeps updating theirs best in the world Android. HTC, Samsung and some others already accepted that system, and they are going up fast.

There are several reasons why nokia is loosing its market share. Not only 1 specific reason. The OS , their security etc etc..........
The best way to take market share back is to go open source on their platform and setup nokia communication center as RIM is doing with its ping option.
For all others saying this is a useless poll/post , i think you dont have an opinion or dont know how to make an opinion.
Iphone has far the best touch interface. Every brand has its own advantages.
I tried the android on htc and sony ericsson , still like iphone the best.
The thing i am missing in Iphone is the ping option and multitasking ( real multitasking )
best regards

unlocked phones represent small amount of sold phones (% is in one digit) in EU and north america. probably is different in asia

the operator (orders and then) buys the phone before the customer does. so the less secure the phone is, the less attractive is.

nokia is loosing the battle in sales because it doesn't have anymore the ability to innovate - both hardware and especially software. it can't even respond in time to the innovations made by the other producers.

the decision to go with win7 instead of android is bad again in my opinion.
and as a nokia man put it in 2005 "Two turkeys won't make an eagle" microsoft an nokia are just too slow for their competitors. it was a desperate move made in order to save their place in the sales chart.

Talking Symbian......

I dont see how BB5 SL3 could/would have any effect on Nokia's market share! End users dont really walk into a store and say "nah I dont want that Nokia it has SL3 security" The average Joe doesn't know the letters SL3.

Personally I believe the fact that Nokia is still dwelling in the past with the Symbian platform and yes they launched Symbian 3 but look at most of the other handset manufactures they are opting for Android.

Nokia need to drop Symbian and either climb on the Android wagon or develop a new and fresh operating system.

Cheers
