dasoftsk 11-11-2006 18:49

No answer???
Sorry, I only wanted to ask if is it possible to change N70 to N70 music edition via NSU (nokia software update).
I know it is possible with phoenix, but how can I make this change if I have the latest firmware on N70 (I know it's not possible to make firmware downgrade!!!).
I am not sure if I change my N70 to N70 music edition and if I would like to change it back, if it's not defined as firmware downgrade on NSU ???

Lomnica_city 11-12-2006 23:36

YES,it's posible, just change the product code with NSS and update via NSU!

Just flash N70 with Music edition firmware, in phonix select the Music edition varient and flash it, i have done on my both N70. Yes you can convert ur Normal N70 to music edition N70. its working without any problem.

The major change you get is 2 New themes (Old Themes is replaced)
U r Multimedia Key (Media Key) is assigned to music player, you cannot customised it as normal N70.

Phonix is the best to convert Normal N70 to Music Edition N70.

I think the easiest way is change PN (e.g. via NSS) and normally run NSU (fw is downloaded automatically). I think it's also the safest way! (You will not lose the waranty... :-) ) Sorry, I have no experiences with phoenix.
Btw, what about back conversion (from N70 music edition back to normal N70)? Is it possible or NSU will recognize it as firmware downgrade???
And what about running NSU with ProductNumbers what doesn't have the latest fw? I think it really must be firmware downgrade! Does it works???

Lomnica_city 11-15-2006 22:52

No,not even NSU ever SHOULD be that stupid peace of software to alow you to downgrade (you would get the"No updates available"message,I'm 100% sure) but if the firmware versions for N70ME and N70 generic are the same, then you would surely be ofered to reinstall, since it's already up to date, and you would get generic N70 software!!

Hey buddy,

both r the same. you don't get separate music edition firmware. just download the RM-84 5.0638.3.0.1 install the package use phoenix to update to u r Normal N70,

Step to be followed to upgrade to Music edition usinf phoenix.

1. open phoenix scan the product. Select Normal Mode from RFinactive mode

2.Go to SW update, wait for same time it will do all pre firmware update procedures.

3.It will show the the list of variants and regions.

4.There just select the music varients, you need to scroll down to see the music edition variants and respective regions like EURO1,EURO2..etc.

5.Just click on Flash, it will pop a error message that its does not belong to same region or variant etc etc, just say ok and continue.

6. hardly it takes 5 min to complete. it will modify the product code also, it will show in the log "PRODUCT CODE MODIFIED ".

My friends have done and successfully converted normal N-70 to Music edition N-70.

After doing it kindly post it here.

Best of luck.:)

@ Lomnica City and @ll others:

Thx for your infos - worked like a charm for me!
Had an N70 (Provider :Three Hutchinson Austria) equipped with "Three" branded Firmware.

Changed the product code with NSS from 0523986 (orig.) to 0539212 (ALPS / Music edition); then did the update using NSU to SW-V. RM84 - 5.0638.3.0.1.
Worked absolutely flawless - no risk at all!

Now the Nokia AD-41 Remote Control Adapter is finally supported in full working order with my N70!
Tossed the original Headphones away and plugged my AKG Phones in - what a difference in sound quality!

Although it would have been great, if the Nokia Technicans had added an equalizer to their Media Player similar to the one used in Nokia 6280 or 3250.
I installed the "Power MP3 Player" with many more features and an much needed equalizer - but guess what: You cant control this and other Symbian MP3 Players with the AD-41 Remote.

But it´s still an improvement to the old SW-Versions i guess, and the update itself is quite easy.
Maybe they add an equalizer in their next update, but i guess its a very small chance...

greetings to @ll :)

N70 music back to N70

Hello everybody,
I have a question: Did any of You tried to update normal N70 to N70 ME and (e.g. after a few days) update back to normal N70?
Is it update (I think via NSU), resp. reinstalling act. version possible? Is the phone working properly after these 2 updates (N70 to N70 ME and N70 ME back to N70)?
I speak only about the update via NSU (because NSU will not broke Your waranty...)

putrawhisnu 11-28-2006 07:25

my question here is, what is the worst case if you use different code for your phone in phoenix?

thx and BR
