Some customers have phones that are dead, and just blinks red when powering on.

Can universalbox fix this?

you got damage gdfs area i tried flashing ang restoring nothing happen still blinking i think you may use 100credits to solve your problem

yes.you don't have need a credit,only make a flash.use full battery or external power.

You will not solve such phones with simple flashing.
Need to upgrade erom first and than flash it.
Also, I'm not sure if universal can handle it...

i try it with k800 dead phone
universalbox flash it finish and take 3 kredits
but phone still dead. i flash it with setool with outserver i get contakt provider but ohone goes on , after i flash with universalbox, and phone work 100%

just make repair Erom in Cruiser

and will work fine , tested in many db2020 and it didn't cost you

Does this symptom always mean the same - or can it be caused by many different things - like hardware fault?

yes, some other fault will cause same symptom ... i had seen some of them

I once fixed erom using UBbox but can't remember how ...
but if you have setool press recovery and erom will be updated and the phone fixed

for blinking phones try to Read info only, most of the times the phone will work, tried it many times and it work perfect with me.

i done a lot blinking red light db2020 dead phone..After flash u must read info...That's all..

if the phone is dead now andafter flashing by UB doesn't turn on, than Click UNLOCK by marking only USE SMART CARD and using F-bus cbl. Skip sim lock aria and when the sw tells u to turn phone on and conect it to dc-60 cable, take the battery out and turn phone on, that's it. U need only 3 credits
unless your phone is locked and u need to unlock it. In thet case after connecting to dc-60 u would need 97 credits more
