Patch for "Playing sound when Multiline icon appears"

Hi all!

I want to write my first patch for the SL45i! I need the following function:

If the multiline indicator (the house icon) appears, a short sound should be played. If the indicator disappears, a different sound should be played.

Background:

In Germany the multiline indicator is used to indicate the "homezone", which is a zone where you have to pay less money for city calls.

With the two different sounds I'm always informed, if my homezone is active or not.

The only problem is, that I have to find the "entry point" for displaying or erasing the multiline indicator! How can I get this information?

rizapn has made the patch "Modify MultiLine Indicator to become Vibra Indicator". Can I use any information from this patch for my idea?

Thank you for your answers!

Well, I found everything to implement that! It's not very hard, I think. The only thing that I need, is a place in RAM, where I can save a flag. This flag must not be overwritten. Does anybody know how I can find a place for that flag? If I'm in the wrong board for this, please tell me (as nobody is answering).

How do you "patching-experts" find a place in RAM, which won't be deleted?

Thank you!

You're already in the right board. But give us at least one day to answer...
A free RAM area shall be C400h-C500h (as I read somewhere). Other free RAM is 80000h-90000h but it's used for executing binaries (with FAM patch). Better not to choose.

You can test RAM usages with ATCGSN debugger (best version for SL is 1.57) and the belonging atcgsn-patch. Then you can read out memory online and test on changing or execute small c166 code in a free RAM area for debugging and testing.
Download here: ATCGSN debugger v1.5.7 (deleted in a week)
Any private messages are welcome (in german *g*).
