You can see a chip marked Infineon PMB6850, it called E-Gold+. Inside the chip a GPRS function included.

so you say there is one inside SL45 or must i have alook??

don't get me wrong, but the GPRS isn't easy to activate - someone once told that it should take a lot of reprogramming in the software to enable it, and it won't happen cause new models are coming so...that's my opinion.

well i have just opend my SL45i and it dont have that chip as i opend my phone i did not damage my cover at all so i dont need to bye new one it's easy to opne sl if you know how

you MUST have eGold inside...or does your computer work without the CPU?

robbiesl42 03-11-2003 11:54

rudeboymcc 03-13-2003 21:06

i don't think i'm the first tp quesiton why would a phone have such a chip if no software to use it was ever going to be made?

robbiesl42 03-13-2003 22:11

Well i think siemens were going to make a software or somthing anyway but they got busy with all there new phones. or maby they just put that chip in it to be less expincive

Gleep 03-14-2003 00:53

i really doubt, meaning i have no doubts 'bout siemens' programmers to make changes in the FW besause of the chip existing in the phone...maybe if the chip was to be replaced - then yes - as we can see the chip won't be changed, but the GPRS function isn't crucial for this phone - the phone is outstanding already.

well siad. Anyway i dont even use GPRS or never have not that inporyant to me
