Updating prototype phones - GSM-Forum

Does anyone know if it's safe to update a Siemens protoype phone with regular firmware - it's an AL21, but currently has SW version 00.1592 which has quite a few features missing - the hardware looks identical to the production phones, but the IMEI starts with 00-4400-01.

Has anyone tried this?

try make flash backup before, and see if it can boot prperly...

That was what I was thinking of - I was just hoping to avoid removing the screening can on the CPU since the testpoint is under it, and the phone doesn't need unlocking.
